Genetic testing can help determine which statin might be bad for you

NPR reports on genetic testing for statin efficacy, something Harmonyx Diagnostics has been doing for years. Genetic tests can determine if patients are more prone to suffer the negative side effects of statins, including muscle myopathy, diabetes onset and, rarely, permanent muscle damage – as well as which type of statin is most prone to produce these side effects.
